Introduction to Catalogs and Products

Catalogs

Catalogs are directories that list all products of a retailer, each represented at a GTIN level, and feature common attributes including brand, categories, and image URL, among others. They are used in advertising campaigns and usually contain all a retailer's products in one catalog, making it easier for advertisers.

Multiple Catalogs Per Retailer

In some scenarios, retailers might find it necessary to maintain multiple catalogs. This can help customize marketing campaigns for specific retailers or areas. For example,

  • Multinational companies like Target or Woolworths, operating in various countries, might use separate catalogs for each area.
  • Additionally, companies like Nectar360 or Promofarma, having different companies under the same management team, might require separate catalogs.

To manage multiple catalogs:

  • Create separate 'child' retailer teams for each catalog and a single 'parent' retailer team.
  • Set up the parent/child relationship between the parent team and each child team, ensuring the parent team is correctly associated with all child teams.
  • After setting up the parent team, update the content standards for all child teams to link them with the parent team. Contact your Customer Integration Engineer (CIE) to do this.

Products

In retail media, products refer to individual items on a retailer's site, each uniquely identified by a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). When synced with retail media platforms, these products carry distinct identifiers and attributes. Each product should represent a unique GTIN or Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) in the product catalog.

During campaign creation, advertisers select products relevant to their chosen catalogs. It's crucial to note that each product represents only one GTIN. Hence, different versions of the same product, like a drink available in 200ml, 600ml, and 2L sizes, are listed as separate products in platforms like Epsilon Retail Media, following standard retail practices.
